The Panjab University
|

The origin of Panjab University goes back to the year 1882 in Lahore (now in Pakistan).
After independence, it was relocated at Chandigarh, India. The campus of the University
has been designed by Monsieur Pierre Jeanneset under the guidance of the world renowned
architect Le Corbusier of France.

|
Panjab University has a long tradition of pursuing excellence in teaching and research
in science and technology, humanities, social sciences, performing arts and sports,
guided by the motto “Tamso Ma Jyotyrgamaya”. |
|
The University has, for the past 50 years, continued to create beacons of light
that have set benchmarks of performance and efficiency for others to follow. By
virtue of its age, experience, achievements and philosophy, the Panjab University
is a University of international recognition. |

It has, for over a century, been delivering the promise of providing the nation
with strong and educated young men & women to bear the responsibilities of the
future. Our alumni have also made their mark on the international scene with Kalpana
Chawla, the US astronaut, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the honorable Prime Minister of India,
Lord Swaraj Paul, the business tycoon of UK, Sunil Bharti Mittal, MD-Bharti Airtel
being few of the examples. |
